ABOUT CHARLOTTE EERIE

Since the early 1990s, I have been fascinated with rendering images of people, whether in portrait or cartoon. All of my work is about people - they are, after all, the reason for art; they are both the inspiration for its creation and the end consumers.

My previous work has centered on documenting iconic beauty in the modern age, focusing on the blurring of traditional gender roles and celebrating the triumph of personal freedom of expression, often using musicians and models as my subjects, for the cultural extremes evident in their look and dress.

More recently I have found inspiration in the urban environment of New York City, where I now live. Increasingly I have been including photography in my work, producing candid and unposed portrait images and experimenting with grainy film and striking contrast in order to capture real life moments in time.
